Long Hours & Heavy Camera ? NO PROBLEM

    Risen Video Production

At first I was not 100% sure about getting the Varizoom, well because is was $800 cheaper than recommended Stabilizers for cameras over 15lbs. I had a 3 day event filming a Volleyball Tournament from 8am-6pm. At the end of each day, I was expecting to feel the pain of carrying the camera all day. To my surprise, I felt great with no effects what-so-ever. The Varizoom gave me the ablity to walk around getting both High and Low Angle shots with easy. Like carrying a tripod or just the camera all day, the SpringPod carried all the weight allowing me to feel fresh each morning and be creative. In one years time, I have filmed over 800 hours with my Varizoom in 2019. I notice the SpringPod was starting to lose it ablity to hold my heavier cameras. But like any item if you use it enough they will lose it’s original strength. I am 100% happy with my Varizoom… I made the following adjustments to make my life easier as a run and gunner Videographer. I recommend adding the Manfrotto 323 RC2 Rapid Connect Adapter -Release plate. This allows you to get your Varizoom on the just snap the camera into place in 2-3 seconds vs trying to slide the camera on and off then leveling it each time. Also I had shoulder straps made that holds the Varizoom Belt Holster in place when I use my heavier cameras. The belt tends to fall after 4-6 hours of non-stop use, but once again because I am filming live events and moving non-stop, so the Velcro will slip. The should Straps eliminate that from happening. I have 4 other videographers who also purchase the Varizoom after they saw how much weight the Varizoom takes off the operator. In my photo you can see me easily take a photo with my 17lbs camera with my monitor, extra lights, wireless mic, etc… Two Thumbs up!
